About
I, Dr. Raquel de Sousa am a passionate and dedicated chiropractor who believes that everyone deserves to move well, feel well, and live life to their fullest potential.
Having moved to Ireland in 2020, I began working as a chiropractor in January 2021 and have since gained almost six years of valuable clinical experience working within the Midlands. During this time, I had the opportunity to care for a diverse range of patients, from infants and children to older adults, as well as recreationally active individuals and competitive sports athletes. Through treating such a broad spectrum of people and conditions, I developed extensive clinical experience, a wealth of knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the individual needs of each patient. The trust and positive relationships I built with those I treated have further reinforced my passion for providing personalised, patient-centred care. This breadth of experience has allowed me to develop a well-rounded approach to chiropractic care, adapting my assessment and treatment to suit each individual's needs, lifestyle, goals, and stage of life.
I graduated with a Master's Degree in Chiropractic from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2020. As part of my studies, I completed a research thesis investigating the effects of using impulse adjusting instrument versus PNF stretching of upper trapezius muscles in treatment of chronic neck pain, reinforcing my commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
I am a registered member of the Chiropractic Association of Ireland, maintaining the highest standards of professional practice while continually expanding my knowledge through ongoing continued professional development education.
With a lifelong passion for sport and an active lifestyle, I understand the physical demands placed on the body—both on and off the field. Having participated in rowing, swimming, hockey, athletics, and a variety of other sports, I appreciate the importance of movement, injury prevention, recovery, and achieving optimal performance.
This personal experience, combined with almost six years of clinical experience working with patients and athletes in Ireland, allows me to relate to athletes of all levels, from recreational enthusiasts to competitive sports people, helping them recover from injury, improve performance, and return to doing what they love.
While sports chiropractic is a particular interest, I am equally passionate about caring for people from all walks of life. I enjoy treating patients of all ages, from infants and children to adults and older adults, tailoring every treatment plan to the individual's needs, goals, and lifestyle. Whether someone is managing pain, recovering from an injury, seeking support during pregnancy, improving mobility, or simply wanting to maintain a healthy, active life, I believe every patient deserves personalised, compassionate care.
My approach focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction rather than simply treating symptoms. By combining thorough assessment, chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue techniques, rehabilitation exercises, and patient education, I empower my patients to take an active role in their health and achieve long-term results.
Above all, I am committed to building genuine relationships with my patients. I believe that listening, educating, and working together are key to helping each individual reach their health goals. My aim is not only to relieve pain but to improve movement, enhance performance, and support lifelong well-being so that every patient can continue doing the things they enjoy most.
